Forever We Stand was the fifth song to be released by the Foundation, on 2024-06-03. It finally settled the debate of whether Planks A' Crashing or For The Foundation was the best Bridgian song – by making it clear that neither of them were so.
It began when I (the writer) asked the Head Guard to make lyrics for a new song in mid-May.
(I did this as there had been no song-releases for four months, since For The Foundation's debut in January.)
He came back with what he called the 'Rhyme of Pilfering', consisting of five rhyming couplets.
With more verses supplied by him (and editing from me), the lyrics were made.
Then, on the 2024-05-27, I started work on the melody, chord-sequences, et cetera for its conversion into a true song. This work would be finished on the 30ᵗʰ; the remaining time was spent polishing the song and practicing it for recording.
Forever We Stand is mostly in the key of G# minor (equivalent to B major). It is unusual in its 9/8 time-signature (triple compound time) – the prior songs had all been in quadruple time. Its 129 bars (incluidng the final cadence) consist of eight 16-bar sections, each split into four 4-bar phrases. It is structured as A-B-C-A-B-D-B-C, where:
The song Imsawn Bycbeys-sa can be appended on the end of Forever We Stand. This is done by changing the penultimate Eb7 chord to a Bb7 chord, and changing the ending melody from Db, Bb to Eb, F. Rather than playing the final chord, continue on to the song, ending in Eb major.
